about

If you are at all familiar with the Obey The Altar Native crew, you know their albums don't follow any set parameters or trends. The Dragon Whisperer is in the same vein. This release showcases growth and expansion from a production standpoint. Here, Denone really experiments and invites an array of instrumentalists and other music makers from around the world to create a more diverse sound palette. Featured artists include, @MicPhyzics, @Hondofelder, @Them_various_fruits, @Fr1th, @Shirofujikoa, @Agentheresy, @Nairb, and @Dnastonthebeat. With the increased inspiration and thought processes, the production on this album propelled the protagonist, Obey, to dig deeper in that grey matter to spin the webs he's known for.

It's no surprise that Obey gets quite personal on this album, which isn't a stretch from his previous works, but this venture seems a bit more refined and organic. Plenty of social issues and current events make their interwoven rounds on this project. Some past issues pop up as well, seen in a present light. As always, art is subjective and up for individual interpretation, which is where this release shines with multiple meanings and easter eggs hidden throughout. You can't help but feel like you know these artists, without actually meeting them.

From beginning to end, this album is a journey outside of the trendy conventional box that some are accustomed to. For many, this journey is a necessary rite of passage and a detour into the left-field area that Obey The Altar Native thrives in. If one judges this game by the title, they've already lost their quarter.

Obey The Altar Native presents: The Dragon Whisperer. An album about... well... not what you think.
